Kayak Adventure-March/April 2012

WELL... this has been a long time coming! This momma has been busy the last few weeks and the last thing I seem to have time for is blogging. I do want to get these photos out there and send out our THANKS to some of the groups we have had over the last few weeks.... REALLY great groups of folks!
This was our Kayak Adventure group back a few weeks ago. From left to right we have Tom, Dallas, Mike, Francesca, Dalia, Ann & Arthur. All smiles and ready for some fun!
One thing I can say for sure is that this trip had fantastic paddling weather!
Really calm waters most days that looked like they were paddling on glass (sorry for the water smudges on this one above Mike).

Some of our other trips lately, can't say the same :)
We'll get to our 'march of the penguins' soon though.
This is the weather that we thrive on down here :) I asked the group to send in any 'comments or write-ups' about the trip that they would care to share in a post, and I am happy to share Tom's memories and experience here:
Favorite Memories:  paddling through the waves with the breeze in my face;
incredible sunsets with the entire ocean looking like liquid gold;
the smell of fresh-caught fish on the grill;
cozy campfires to keep the evening chill a way;
solo paddling as dawn is breaking and before anyone else is awake;
iguanas marching out on to the beach to greet us;
Tamara's apple pie;
mockingbirds on the cays sounding like an entire aviary;
 paddling sprints with my son;
and a cozy tent with a good night's sleep.
Least favorite memory:  paddling to the shore for the last time, and knowing that the trip is over.

It couldn't have been any better!

The five nights and six days I spent paddling with Out-Island Explorers were truly extraordinary.  Let's start with the scenery:  The colors of the water are simply beyond compare.  It's white where the water is shallowest and the white sand shows through, electric turquoise in the slightly deeper water and dark, dark blue in the deepest areas.  The breezes were mild, and the sea conditions ranged from glassy smooth to light chop that made a spray skirt nice to have but not essential.

The temperature was perfect too -- warm in the day, and just cool enough at night to make a campfire enjoyable.  Paddling each day was truly a joy.
 Dallas was a perfect guide; he kept things moving without ever nagging, adjusted the trip itinerary as necessary to meet the needs of the group, and seemed to organize everything effortlessly.
The food -- always important on a multi-day trip -- was delicious and plentiful.  We had lots of home-cooked baked goods, including a great apple pie, thanks to Tamara, and Dallas supplemented the food we packed with fresh-caught fish and a slipper lobster on two nights.
The bags of snacks were always available for those who needed to eat between meals to keep their energy levels up.  I used Out-Island Explorers' tent, sleeping bag, pfd, air mattress and snorkel fins, and found all of them to be top quality.   All in all, I give this trip five stars. -Tom B.
From our family here in Exuma to all of you, we THANK YOU for a wonderful Kayak Adventure and for the new friendships!
Happy Paddling!!
